The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Users have commenced using personalized games set up using the Portal feature to complete them, underscoring just how demanding these challenges have become.
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four classes of assignments, but while the majority merely grant cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the only way of obtaining twelve from the forty-one key firearms present in the game.
A number of these gated guns may soon find their way on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
"This task is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and only works at very short distances, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
One more community participant pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps a classic map if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
But when tackling the tasks in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
For now, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these challenging battlefield assignments, expecting a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
